In anticipation of the release of the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid on Disney+ on September 6, I have found several Eurovision (and Junior Eurovision stars) who have voiced characters in foreign dubs of the film!
They are:
· Dino Jelusić (JESC 2003) (Prince Eric, Croatian dub)
· Edsilia Rombley (ESC 1998, 2007) (Queen Selina, Dutch dub)
· Hanna Pakarinen (ESC 2007) (Scuttle, Finnish dub)
· Mahmood (ESC 2019, 2022) (Sebastian, Italian dub)
· Aleksander Walmann (ESC 2017) (Prince Eric, Norwegian dub)
· Sara James (JESC 2021) (Ariel, Polish dub)
· Tijana Dapčević (ESC 2014) (Ursula, Serbian dub)
If I have missed out on anyone, let me know in the comments!
Malmö will host the contest in 2024! It will be the third time that the city will host the contest.
Coincidentally, Malmö hosted in 2013 after Loreen's first win!

It's been confirmed that Bulgaria, Montenegro and North Macedonia are withdrawing in 2023
Update 19/8:
I found another one:
Jeronimas Milius (Felix Madrigal, Lithuanian dub)
Mahmood does not want people to speculate about his sexual orientation, so let's not include him on the page out of respect.
Update 24/2:
I found some more Eurovision stars in Encanto:
Ruth Jacott (Abuela Alma Madrigal, Dutch dub)
Tanja (Pepa Madrigal, Estonian dub)
Recently, I was checking out the cast members for the international dubs of the new Disney film Encanto, where I found out that five Eurovision stars have voiced characters in the movie! They are:
Albina and Damir Kedžo (Isabela and Camilo Madrigal, Croatian dub)
Ulrikke Brandstorp (Mirabel Madrigal, Norwegian dub)
Sahlene and Tusse (Pepa and Camilo Madrigal, Swedish dub)
I'm actually referring to the Norwegian one
Will you be following the French selection this year?
Besides following the main contest, does anyone here follow any national finals? e.g. Festivali i Këngës, Sanremo, Melodi Grand Prix, Melodifestivalen, etc.
I only started following them in 2021 and my favorite is Melodifestivalen, with Melodi Grand Prix in second.
Yeah, it was a great show, especially when everyone could perform live, with a live audience. It was nice seeing countries like Azerbaijan and Bulgaria return after several years.
The only worry I had was that I honestly did not want Poland to win, as it would be seen as unfair to the other nations if they (Poland) won thrice in four years. Yet, their second place finish was well-deserved.
Yes, I know Jedward, but Ireland last won in 1996
For Ayana, I guess that the Netherlands does better when they send a pop song sung by a group. I still don't know why Spain finished outside the top 10 for the first time.
I watched the contest live yesterday and Armenia won for the second time!
It's confirmed that they are returning!
Yes, they really are coming back!
I first heard about it in 2013, but only started following it in 2019
According to the official ESC rules, product placement is not allowed in any of the competing entries, i.e. the song lyrics cannot mention any brand names. For example, San Marino's 2012 entry had to be edited to remove its references to Facebook.
However, in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC), there does not seem to be such a rule. I realized this when I listened to Portugal's 2017 entry, titled "Youtuber", which clearly mentions YouTube (a brand name) in its lyrics several times. Surely this would not be allowed at the senior contest, right?
Besides, I also checked out Romania's 2006 entry, titled "Povestea Mea" (My Story), which mentions several pop culture characters, like Harry Potter and Spider-Man, in its lyrics. Nothing seems amiss here, as Netta referenced Barbie, Pikachu and Wonder Woman in "Toy", but what caught my attention was that the performers even dressed up as these characters!
This has led me to wonder: Are product placement rules in JESC different than in the ESC? If so, why? Is it due to the fact that children do not have a strong understanding of trademarks and copyrights?
